Project Title: Stamped Solid Slate Patio with Border – Whitefish Bay, WI
Location: Whitefish Bay, WI
Project Overview:
This backyard project in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin uses a stamped solid slate finish with a contrasting border to give poured concrete the depth and texture of natural slate.
The solid slate stamp presses authentic stone pattern across the main field, while the border frames the patio and defines its edge — a picture-frame detail — so the surface reads as a designed hardscape rather than a plain slab. A release color layered over the base tone gives the gray, mottled finish its natural variation.
Poured concrete handles Wisconsin’s freeze-thaw cycles, patio furniture, and daily foot traffic far better than loose pavers, which shift and heave over time. The stamped surface is sealed to resist fading, staining, and moisture, and needs only occasional cleaning and re-sealing to hold its finish — for a low-maintenance backyard patio with the high-end look of slate at a fraction of the cost of natural stone.
